Verdant Church exists to glorify God by forming mature disciples of Jesus who flourish in community and carry the gospel into the world.
A Calling Became a Church.
Verdant Church began with a growing conviction in Pastor AJ’s heart: what if we planted a church built around making disciples who make disciples?
Beginning in 2024, God began stirring a desire in Pastor AJ to see people do more than simply attend church but to see people deeply rooted in Christ, growing alongside others, and living on mission in the places God had planted them. Through prayer, counsel, and conversations with trusted leaders, that conviction eventually became clear: God was calling AJ and his family to plant a new church. At the same time, God began drawing his attention toward New Tulsa — the growing communities of North Broken Arrow and East Tulsa. As he prayed about the future of this area and the thousands of families who will call it home in the years ahead, he became convinced that God was calling them to plant their lives there and establish a church committed to reaching this community for generations to come.
He quickly discovered that God was already building the church before there was ever a service held. With the support of their sending church, Evergreen Church, more than 20 Evergreen families stepped forward in the earliest days to help plant Verdant. Soon, others began joining the story. Families opened their homes. People gave generously. Leaders stepped up. Friends invited friends. What began as a small group of people willing to say “yes” quickly became a growing church family. Within just six weeks of beginning to gather, more than 100 people had become covenant members of Verdant Church.
Verdant wasn’t started because we wanted something different. It was planted because we believe healthy churches should multiply—and because we believe God is doing something special in New Tulsa.
Our mission is simple: Rooted in Christ. Growing with Others. Reaching the World.
And God is just getting started.

Watching God Build His Church.
The first chapter of Verdant’s story has been marked by one thing over and over again: God’s provision.
Before we had our own campus, God provided office space. He brought together a staff team of five people committed to serving this church and community. He surrounded us with generous churches, families, leaders, and friends who believed in the mission and helped us take one step after another. But some of the most exciting things God has done have nothing to do with buildings.
We have already launched 10 Community Groups, creating places where people can build meaningful relationships, study Scripture, care for one another, and grow as disciples of Jesus—and we expect to add more as Verdant grows.
We have watched people come to know Christ. We have seen families find community. We have watched people discover places to serve and begin investing their lives in others. And nearly every Sunday, God continues to bring new people through the doors of our little church.
Then God opened a door we could not have manufactured ourselves: a home in the very community we felt called to reach. Verdant is now preparing to move into our campus in New Tulsa, where we are currently working toward purchasing the property and establishing a long-term home for our church. On November 15, 2026, we will hold our first Sunday services there.
There is still plenty of work ahead, but when we look at how quickly God has moved, we are reminded that this church has never depended on our ability to manufacture something impressive. God is building His church. We simply want to be faithful with what He has entrusted to us.

We believe God has planted Verdant in New Tulsa for a reason. We want to become the kind of church that serves this community so faithfully that our neighbors are genuinely glad we are here. We want marriages strengthened, children discipled, hurting people cared for, leaders developed, needs met, and people who are far from God introduced to the hope of Jesus.
But our vision doesn't stop at the walls of our church ... or even at the boundaries of New Tulsa. We believe disciples make disciples, leaders develop leaders, and healthy churches multiply. That means our goal isn't simply to build a larger Sunday gathering. We want to build a church where spiritual maturity is normal, authentic community is expected, serving others is part of everyday life, and multiplication is celebrated.
We dream about Community Groups multiplying throughout our city. We dream about raising up pastors, missionaries, ministry leaders, and church planters from within Verdant. We dream about sending people across Tulsa, across the country, and around the world with the gospel. And one day, by God's grace, we hope Verdant will help plant other churches just as others faithfully helped plant us.
We don't know everything God has ahead for Verdant Church. But we know what He has called us to do:
